Dress Code

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to share an important update regarding our school dress guidelines. Following a thorough review and official decision by our School Advisory Council (S.A.C.), our school will be moving away from a strict uniform policy.

School dress codes are a community-wide decision, and by policy, cannot be changed unilaterally by school administration. Our S.A.C.—which includes representation from parents, teachers, and community members—made this collaborative decision to better support our families and ensure our students are comfortable, safe, and ready to learn.

Instead of uniforms, we are introducing a flexible, common-sense dress code focused on safety and appropriateness for an elementary school environment. We ask for your partnership in helping your child choose outfits that align with the guidelines below.

School Dress Guidelines

Shirts & Tops

• Sleeves Required: All shirts must have regular short sleeves or long sleeves. Please save strapless tops, spaghetti straps, and sleeveless shirts for the weekend.

Bottoms & Leggings

• Leggings: Leggings are great for staying cozy, but they must be worn under a dress, skirt, or shorts (rather than as standalone pants).
• Jeans: Jeans are excellent for school, but please ensure they are in good repair. No ripped or torn jeans are to be worn.
• Proper Fit: Clothing should fit your child comfortably—not too tight and not overly baggy—so they can move, run, and play freely without distraction.
• Coverage: Tops and bottoms must meet so that midriffs and undergarments are fully covered at all times.

Shoes & Accessories

• Safe Footwear: Active play is a huge part of our day! Students must wear closed-toe shoes with back straps (like sneakers). For safety during recess and PE, please leave flip-flops, slides, high heels, and wheeled shoes (Heelys) at home.
• Jewelry: Jewelry should be simple, neat, and safe for play. Please avoid large, noisy, or distracting pieces that might get caught during recess or gym.
• Hats & Hoods: Hats and hoods are great for outdoor recess, but we ask that they be taken down when inside the building so teachers can easily see everyone’s faces.

Graphics & Images

• Clothing should be positive and elementary-friendly. Please avoid items featuring language, images, or symbols that promote violence, discrimination, or offensive behavior.

School Spirit

• Students are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing school colors (Purple & Teal) and school shirts.

Our main priority will always be your child’s education and well-being. If a student's outfit doesn't quite meet these guidelines, staff will handle it privately, gently, and with dignity so they can get right back to their learning.
